Typical Membrane Filter Plate Operation

1 Filtration Cycle

The cycle begins with filtration, as with standard recess plates. The membranes are depressed into the recess of the body plate as the cake begins to form.

2 Washing Cycle

To achieve an effective washing cycle, the cake is pre-squeezed to bring it to an even density and to prevent surface channeling. Wash liquid is then introduced into the cake to complete the wash cycle. The patented membrane support helps reduce water short circuiting through the feed-eye during washing cycle.

3 Membrane Squeeze

After the filtration cycle and optional wash cycle, air or liquid is applied behind the membrane, up to 225 psi, to "squeeze" out the retained moisture from the cake.

4 Cake Discharge

After the filtration cycle and optional wash cycle, air or liquid is applied behind the membrane, up to 225 psi, to "squeeze" out the retained moisture from the cake.
